Bandmaster head8/4/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Would ideally like to sell both pieces as a unit, but open to offers. Local pickup only, as this whole setup is a monster. However the speakers are from a 900 watt twin reverb or something like that. This features original power transformer, output transformer, choke, cabinet, grill cloth, vintage preamp tubes. Could find a ugly enough bandmaster cabinet so I found a ugly 63 bassman cabinet local. However everything on the amp functions properly and as it should. Fender-guy said: Recently pickup up a 63 bandmaster head, faintly original condition with new caps and a couple tubes. To convert a Bandmaster into a Vibroverb you have to change the above mentioned phase inverter coupling cap and also change out one power (voltage dropping) resistor. There are some minor marks/scuffs on the tolex of the head, and the front plate is bent a touch by the logo (see photos). It would be easy to drop the Bandmaster chassis into a 1x15 cab with a Weber California 15 (4 ohm, 80 watts, paper dome) for a very Vibroverb vibe. Have it listed as excellent, because of the age. They are nice Altec Lansing speakers and sound great with this amp. The silverface Bandmaster Reverb is a typical ab763 amp and shares basic circuit design with the Super Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Twin Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb, Pro Reverb and Twin Reverb. This amp has been lovingly maintained by its original owner and has seen no modifications other than the standard 3-prong conversion, modern replacement tubes, and some unoriginal back screws on the cabinet. The Band-Master VM Tube Head produces 40 watts from its 6L6-driven power section, making it loud enough for the stage while allowing you to turn up and take. (see photos) but this sweetheart is one of the cleanest we have seen and won't last long! There's a circular hole that's been cleanly cut in the bottom of the head (see photos) we're not sure if it's original or not but it doesn't affect functionality and isn't visible most of the time. Very minor cosmetic wear and tear in the tolex, small break in the original grille cloth, etc. They are looked down on a bit by Fender guys, but all the better for you, the prices are low compared to the higher watt models. It broke up very nicely and wasn't harsh sounding at all. It was a great sounding amp, especially with P-90s and a Hotplate. Truly one of our favorite Fender sounds from the era in a glorious, large package that would live comfortably in a studio space or professional touring rig. I recently sold my '64 blonde Bandmaster head/cab. The vintage JBLs are clean and clear with amazing headroom, nicely worn in but not worn out. ![]() Bandmaster's head was in front, then his neck, in another. The 40W 6GA-7 circuit has a blooming and percussive quality to its response that is oh-so-special and can be paired with other cabs or attenuators for a variety of responses. Bandmaster, with the reins loose in Alan's hands, pricked up his ears and took off too soon. This is a seriously clean gem of a collectable Fender! Gorgeous cleans at every stage of volume resulting in syrupy, dynamic and compressed lead tones when pushed towards ten. For sale is a 1963 Fender Bandmaster 6G7-A Piggyback 40W Head with its matching 2x12" Cabinet loaded with two sweet JBL K120 vintage speakers in excellent shape as well. ![]()
